This year we decided to brave the Leeds traffic and head to Roundhay Park for the Chinese Lantern festival. Togged up we entered a fairground like entrance greeted by food stalls, a glimpse of far away lanterns glowing and well replicated Chinese music playing from loud speakers everywhere. We entered the queue and funnelled through the entrance to an open space containing hundreds of lanterns lit by thousands of LED bulbs.
I was staggered that everyones first reaction was to take a picture, being a photographer my first thought was how to expose a selfie with my iPhone, however I decided that it was far more interesting to watch my daughter take pictures of the lanterns with her little camera. Everyone loves taking a great picture, it’s my life.
